Description
Offered for sale is a lovely 9 piece ANCHOR HOCKING LAZY SUSAN SET made of clear glass. The pattern is EARLY AMERICAN PRES CUT, which collectors often abbreviate to EAPC. It is sometimes called by the descriptive name Star of David, although this name was never by Anchor Hocking and some pieces don't even have a Star of David in the design. Due to the pattern's affordability and widespread availability, Early American Pres Cut is probably the most popular pattern of glass ever made. Most forms in the pattern continued in production from 1960 until 1978, although some were made for only a year or two, and a few continued in production until 2000. Most pieces are easy to find even today, although some are rather scarce, including this Lazy Susan set. Like all Anchor Hocking glass, it was made in U.S.A.The set consists of ONE large round plate, ONE small center dip or sauce dish, SIX wedge shaped chip or vegetable relish dishes, and ONE wire stand with a shiny gold colored finish. The wire stand allows the plate on top to rotate, conveniently putting snacks within easy reach of guests. The large round plate measures 13 1/2 inches (34.3cm) in diameter, and the small center bowl measures 5 1/4 inches (13.3cm) in diameter at the rim. Each of the side dishes measures 5 3/4 inches (14.6cm) long, and the whole thing stands appx. 4 inches (10.2cm) tall when assembled. The set is large and the glass is thick and heavy, which contributes to the high shipping cost.
The Lazy Susan set is in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks, scratches or repairs, and the glass is shiny and clear with no cloudiness or discoloration. The gold finish on the rotating wire frame has minor -- but visible -- tarnish (picture 5).
