    Description
    A superb quality antique 15th-18th century Indonesian Malay aristocrat fine Islamic sword -dagger Panjang Kris - Keris Malaysia colonial period.
    The blade which is older than the mounting (15th–17th Century A. D). The sturdy double-edged, straigh blade is finely hand forged with beautiful and very rare Damascus Steel Pamor Pattern Ron Pakis, Feather / Fern.
    Mounted in the 18th century fittings, the brown horn hilt (hulu) is finely hand carved with two mascarons in characteristic 17th-18th century European Dutch style amongst floral garlands.
    The wooden scabbard is encased with eastern silver Pendok finely repousse and engraved with interlocking with floral pattern.
    The wrangka of Islamic crescent-form is made of precious wood with naturally occurring contrasting grains.
    Keris panjang also known as keris penyalang a.k.a "executioner keris" since keris panjang usually held by Malay aristocrat that had execution authority.
    Since high-quality, Keris blades made of Pamor were very valuable and would not go out of fashion or style, they were passed from father to son and were used by the next generations. So, the fine old blades, dating back I as far as the fifteenth century were still used during the 19th century but remounted with a new 19th century mounting. It was also practiced in Japan when the expensive old sword blades were remounted to a new mounting and were still used in 19th and 20th century.
