    Description

This is an early antique Thai Sawankhalok Kilns ceramic lidded box or bowl.  The bowl is in the shape of the Mangosteen fruit that is indigenous to  Southeast Asia.  I do not know the exact age of this piece.  Similar pieces that I could find date from the 14th to the 16th century.  This looks to have a celadon glaze.  There is one place where the glaze dripped on the surface.  There is some minor chipping from wear and use where the lid had been removed over the years.  The lid has a finial knob with a stem and petals that represent the mangosteen fruit.
This bowl came from the estate of someone who worked and lived in Southeast Asia in the 1960's to the 1970's.  Being sold as used and "as is" with no returns.
    Measurements:  @ 2 1/2" diameter by 2" tall.
