    Description

This is an Antique Ceramic / Stoneware Jarlet that has historically been called Sawankhalok Ware.  This well-studied category of Ceramics was produced in the kilns of North-Central Thailand during the 14th and 15th Centuries.  It was considered a Trade Ceramic since it was exported to various parts of Southeast Asia during the height of its popularity.  The term Sawankhalok is actually from a name of the town that still exists in Si Satchanalai Province close to another center of the Thai ceramic tradition called Sukhothai.  Due to internal strife taking place in Ming Period China during this time in history Thai Ceramics for a relatively short period of time took the place of Chinese Ceramics that had been exported throughout the region for hundreds of years.  My father specialized in collecting Sawankhalok Ceramics for over 30 years and the quality of his pieces are comparable to any similar high quality pieces available on the open market. Please review all pictures thoroughly prior to making an offer or purchase.
This particular globular jarlet has seven alternating triangle panels separated by double vertical lines on the surface.
    Jarlet Dimensions: 2 1/2 inches high & 2 1/4 inches wide.  Weight: 3.2 ounces
