BOSTON MASS. HACKNEY CARRIAGE LICENSE PLATES - 1998 (Green) or 2000 (Red). The term Hackney is derived from Hackney, England and their horse drawn carriages. The Hackney Unit is the oldest division of the Boston Police Department and has the licensing responsibilities for cabs, sightseeing autos, ho redrawn carriages and pedicabs. These are probably from Checker Cabs as they were bought at a living estate sale of a former Checker Car Plant Manufacturing Manager. They measure 6” by 6” and make a great conversation / decor piece. Condition is "Used".
