Medical Advances, Inc. - MT4 1.5T MRI coil tuning device - Outright - Functional. We used this device for several years to repair and calibrate 1.5T MRI Coils for various venders.
Device Usage:  We have used this device to tune various single and 4 channel coils (with proper adapters) on 1.5T MRI systems. If you understand the principles behind the reasons and logic of matching the coils resonance frequency with the systems 'actual' frequency then you can understand why this is performed. Every MRI is 'parked' to an unknown but basic frequency which varies with the installation. Not only this but it also drifts over time. Some coils need only to be adjusted to repair, while others need to be repaired, again tool was use to determine this.
Note: Even though newer MRI's auto adjust for coil variations, they do don't have the capability to correct for individual coil resonance matching or 'Q' factor. Which is one reason coils vary in image quality. I do not have a written procedure available for performing the calibrations with this device as it is proprietary. However, the basic matching information is available online!
