VERY RARE
Sharper Image RoboScout fully functioning Robot!!  AS CONFIRMED ONLINE ON VARIOUS ROBOT SITES...ONLY A FEW OF THESE ROBOTS ARE KNOWN TO EXIST TODAY IN FULLY FUNCTIONING CONDITION AS THIS ONE IS.  This Robot has just had both of the essential rechargeable batteries replaced by an electronics technician at a cost of nearly 0.  (Replaced were the large internal battery inside the Robot & the internal battery in the wireless handheld COMMAND remote Motion/Video/Audio Controller). This is very important since the replacement of both batteries is critical to insuring the proper operation of this amazing robot for years to come.  This complete battery replacement is not an easy task and required 2 hours by the technician to partially disassemble and reassemble the body of the robot to insert the new battery. I wanted the new owner of this incredible robot to have a new set of exact specification batteries so that it functions perfectly as this RoboScout Robot is quite amazing...especially given the fact that it was only ever available for purchase between 2000 - 2002!!...this technology is even quite impressive and very enjoyable 2 decades later.  This RARE robot was originally purchased for 9.00 plus shipping & sales tax from The Sharper Image Company in the year 2000 and has been well-cared for, and always stored properly in a very clean, dry, smoke-free environment.  "Great vintage condition" describes that there are some minor scuffs, etc on the Robot as seen in the provided photos but nothing major at all. There is a ton of compelling information available online about this robot as it remains one of the most impressive, entertaining, and most revered consumer robots ever made in the opinion of many collectors and enthusiasts...especially considering it was manufactured 20 years ago.  It was cutting edge, state of the art technology and still remains impressive....but not many of these RoboScouts were ever made and VERY FEW exist today in fully functioning condition as this one is. RoboScout has large, dynamic eyes that truly see through a hidden eye surveillance camera.  It’s transmitter sends clear images, even in near darkness, to a 3” x 4” screen on the wireless remote control center. Move the robot’s eyes and camera to either side and tilt it’s body up or down.  Hidden, built-in microphones pick up sounds and transmit what RoboScout hears.  You can see and listen to what’s going on and have conversations back and forth remotely. RoboScout’s infrared sensors detect obstacles in its way, triggering its amusing and appropriate comments like “Whoops!!” or “Coming Through!!”.  These a just a couple of phrases from this robots EXTENSIVE vocabulary.  If RoboScout collides with an object it might exclaim, “Where did that comes from?”.  Many more delightful things this robot says depending on the situation.  TRULY AMAZING!!  RoboScout’s wireless remote command controller manages all functions guiding RoboScout forward, back, right, left, spinning around and stop…all while you can watch through its eyes on the images transmitted back in real time back to the video screen on the remote controller.  You don’t even need to be in the same room to enjoy this robot!!  Drive RoboScout everywhere…across floors, onto rugs and carpet, across thresholds, etc.  RoboScout has a LARGE conversational vocabulary builtin.  Whenever RoboScout speaks its LED “mouth” lights blink in sync with the sounds. For example: Greetings – “Hello, hello, hello!”. Exclamations– “Watch out!”. Commands – “Take me to your leader!”. Protests – “I can’t hold that much!”.  Questions – “Where did that come from?”.  Ditties – (singing) “I’m a little robot, da dada”.   AND MUCH MORE.  RoboScouts spoken responses are programmed logically to seem intelligent and responsive to events and stimuli.  If RoboScout falls it might say, “Help! I’ve fallen and I can’t getup!”  If it strikes and obstacle it might say, “That hurt!”.  If picked up it might protest by saying “Put me down!”  If placed in sentry mode and its infrared sensors detect movement, RoboScout will turn and demand, “Halt, who goes there?”.  Additionally, RoboScout also speaks with transmitted voices, saying whatever you speak into the remote control’s built in microphone.  Select one of two electronic voices (high or low pitch)or your natural voice.  Special modes and features give it unparalleled versatility.  In “SENTRY” mode, RoboScout’s passive infrared sensors detect motion and trigger a series of voice alerts.  Switch to “MONITOR” mode to keep and eye on a sleeping infant or young child at play.  Press “ARM LOCK” and RoboScout can carry up to 2 LBS of drinks and snacks on the two included trays in it's hands.  Press “GREET” mode and RoboScout will welcome all guests who come in range.  Press “MESSAGE” to record a 15 second memo.  THIS PERSONAL ROBOT IS AMAZING AND THERE IS NOTHING LIKE IT MADE TODAY!!!
