Casey is working and in the original box. Played with condition. DOES NOT COME WITH TAPES. ALSO, there are a few cosmetic issues as well as functional issues to be aware of prior to purchase. First, the most apparent cosmetic issue is that the decals are edging pretty substantially. They may be able to be laid back down and glued with some patience. I always leave that up to my customer. Second, it is apparent that a battery exploded in the battery compartment at one time. This DOES NOT EFFECT PLAY. When you open to battery compartment - It’s ugly. (See pics). But the batteries still make good contact and it powers up just fine.
There are two functional issues to be aware of. One is that the “eject” button doesn’t spring the cassette door open. You have to help it as you push the button. Second, the switch on the top of Casey’s head doesn’t seem to do anything. I’m not sure what it’s supposed to do - perhaps it’s the on/off switch? He my be “on” whenever the batteries are in it. I didn’t let it sit long to see if it turns off automatically.
I also have no way to test Casey with the correct tapes. So here’s what I know with the tape I tested (not included).
1. When you install four D batteries (not included), the face lights up. It takes about 20-30 seconds for his face to come fully alive.
2. When you push the “go” button, you hear a loud BEEP BOOP BEEP.
3. When you put a tape in, it plays normally as Casey’s face moves with the music.
4. Fast forward and stop work as expected.
I’m not sure if all that means it’s working entirely properly or not.
